Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find answers to the most common questions about physiotherapy, sessions and treatments. If your question isn't covered, you can reach me through the contact page.
What happens at the first session?
At your first visit, your concerns are discussed and a physical assessment is carried out. Based on this assessment, the treatment process is planned, and the day and frequency of sessions are decided together. Treatment sessions begin after the assessment and planning.
How long does a session take?
A session takes around 50 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies from person to person, depending on the nature and duration of the complaint and the assessment findings. The expected course is discussed with you after the initial assessment.
Should I bring my MRI, X-ray or medical reports?
If you have recent imaging results (MRI, X-ray, ultrasound) or physician reports, bringing them supports the assessment; if not, an assessment can still be carried out.
What is manual therapy?
Manual therapy is a set of hands-on assessment and treatment techniques applied by a physiotherapist to joints, muscles and neural tissue. It includes techniques such as joint mobilisation, joint manipulation and neural mobilisation. See the manual therapy page for more detail.
When is manual therapy used?
It is used for musculoskeletal complaints such as lower back and neck pain, shoulder problems, and hip and knee problems, based on an individualised assessment. See the conditions page for details.
Is manual therapy painful?
Manual therapy is generally not a painful treatment. If pain or tenderness is felt during a technique, the treatment is adjusted to your feedback and tolerance.
What is Clinical Pilates, and how does it differ from traditional Pilates?
Clinical Pilates is a one-to-one exercise method guided by a physiotherapist and planned around your assessment findings. Unlike traditional Pilates, it is not a group class but a therapeutic programme shaped around individual needs.
What is my role in the treatment process?
The effectiveness of treatment is supported by active participation. Doing the prescribed home exercises regularly and following daily-life advice are an important part of the process.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a planned session.
